No surprise Duke has offered 2014 Shooting Guard Grayson Allen, he’s been on the radar for quite a while and has enhanced his game and slowly climbed the rankings. Allen is athletic, smart and has gotten much stronger. Allen has worked hard on his ball-handling and is able to play either guard spot, a trait that has always been a favorite of Coach K when recruiting guards. The versatility in Allen’s game would fit in at Duke but just as every other Duke recruit there are a bevy of heavy hitters also looking at Allen including Gonzaga, Texas, Cincinnati and  [ Read More ]

The college basketball offseason is barely a week old, but coaches with Duke links are making quite a splash as they move around. With Mike Krzyzewski still running things at Duke, he has recently seen a pair of former players take their first head coaching jobs heading into the 2013-2014 season. Bobby Hurley and Chris Collins are just two of the numerous guards Coach K has had on his team in the past. Their paths to a D1 head coaching job might be different, but both will get a shot to make their mark at schools with very little basketball  [ Read More ]

It was previously spoken of and speculated but no official word until now that Andre Dawkins will be returning to the basketball court next year for the Duke Blue Devils. Here is a series of tweets by Andre that speak to his decision: Excited to say that I will be a part of the 2013-2014 Duke Men’s Basketball Team. Thanks to everyone for the support throughout the year — Andre Dawkins (@dre_day20) April 11, 2013   This year was tough to be away but I feel like I have grown immensely off the court and am ready to come back  [ Read More ]

Mr. Brightside I don’t think any true Duke fan or enthusiast can look back on this season and not smile, sure it ended before we all wanted it to end but none of those so-called experts had Duke where Duke ended up. All year-long the so-called professionals said Duke wasn’t good enough. They questioned everything about this team, never truly giving them the credit they deserved. To make it to the Elite Eight with the schedule, and the injuries that this team had and overcame? It was a good year, it was a damn good year. Ok the loss to  [ Read More ]

The Past… It was March 28, 1992 in the East Regional played in The Spectrum (sadly, no longer with us) in Philadelphia. It was Kentucky versus Duke, perhaps one of the most heralded non-conference rivalries at that time. Two powerful, and very familiar, coaches were at the helm; Kentucky’s Rick Pitino and Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski. Kentucky made a tremendous comeback from a 12-point deficit in the second half to tie the game at 98-98 with just over 30 seconds left. Duke had a chance to win the game in regulation but Bobby Hurley’s shot just missed at the buzzer. So  [ Read More ]

Duke has a way of keeping us on edge: they rarely run away with games against top opponents, and that’s okay.  They have a way of taking teams out of what they want to do using pressure defense.  Duke would do so against Michigan State and come away with the 71-61 win. The story of the game for Duke started with defense.  Duke did a masterful job keeping the Michigan State guards at bay.  Keith Appling would score 16 points for Michigan State but was 0-for-3 from 3 point range and had no assists and 4 turnovers.  Gary Harris fared  [ Read More ]
