While undersized at 6’8, Josh Hairston does possess the girth (235lbs) to bang with some bigger players in the middle for offensive and defensive rebounds. Where Hairston is limited on offense, his go-to shot has generally been a mid-range jumper that is pretty hit or miss at this point in his career. He has shown potential as a decent rebounder and garbage man around the rim and those types of points and recycled possessions could really off-set a poor shooting night a la the championship year in 2010.
Each year that Hairston has been at Duke has been a year of adding a little bit here and there, the jump-shot wasn’t there freshman year, now it is. If he can continue to tweak his game just enough he could find himself with minutes at the small and power forward spot. Hairston will make his mark most likely on the defensive end and rebounding which is the perfect way to stay in Coach K’s rotation.
