Shane will be appearing at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship and looking to build upon the money raised last year.
2012 NBA Champion Shane Battier Seeking Pars in Second Annual Take Charge Save Par Fundraiser at American Century Championships in Tahoe, July 20-22 in Tahoe
Miami, FL, July 6, 2012 – 2012 NBA Champion Shane Battier will use his golf game again as a charity fundraising mechanism at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe July 20-22, 2012.
The former Duke All-American and Miami HEAT forward, who just finished his 11th year in the NBA, will donate $1,000 dollars for every par, birdie or eagle that he posts on his scorecard at the 23rd annual event to fund scholarships for at risk students through his Battier Take Charge Foundation.
Battier is inviting others to match his pledge or simply donate to the cause. And for a minimum pledge of $15, the donor will receive a Take Charge Foundation iPhone cover.
“I’m excited to come to the American Century Championship and join the elite fraternity of champions,” said Battier.  “With the momentum of a NBA Championship, I’m hoping to climb the leaderboard this year and raise even more money for the Battier Take Charge Foundation through TAKE CHARGE, SAVE PAR.  I will be brimming with confidence trying to make a few more threes…on the course.”
Battier played a key role in the Heat’s championship run with back-to-back 17-point games to open the NBA Championship series. Â His offensive prowess gave the Heat a lift and the Oklahoma City Thunder another offensive threat to defend.
In last year’s American Century Championship, Battier, an improving 20 handicap, finished in 77th place with eight pars.  For more information about TAKE CHARGE, SAVE PAR, please go to the foundation website at www.takechargefoundation.com
