2012 ACC Recruiting Rankings

1) North Carolina- Four man class; Top Recruit- PG Marcus Paige

  • UNC gets the slight edge over NC St. because of the depth Roy Williams brings in at different positions

2) North Carolina State- Three man class; Top Recruit- SG Rodney Purvis

  • Mark Gottfried’s class is a great one.  Featuring three McDonald’s All-Americans (R. Purvis, Tyler Lewis), and a talented wing player (T.J. Warren)

3) Duke- Two man class; Top Recruit- SG Rasheed Sulaimon

  • Coach K’s late signing of forward, Amile Jefferson (McDonald’s All-American), catapulted Duke’s class as one of the tops in the ACC

4) Maryland- Six man class; Top Recruit- C Shaquille Cleare

  • The Terps have depth and a lot of talent with this year’s class, and other recruiting analysts agree (most have this class ranked in the top 15 nationally)

5) Georgia Tech- Four man class; Top Recruit- PF Robert Carter

  • Brian Gregory’s best class, since becoming head coach of the Yellow Jackets.  Robert Carter has the ability to be an All-ACC Freshmen, and pay attention to the athletic forward, Marcus Hunt, he could give GT big minutes

6) Virginia- Five man class; Top Recruit- SF Justin Anderson

  • Justin Anderson (the once Maryland commit) headlines this five man class Tony Bennett has brought in, but don’t sleep on the talented big man, Mike Tobey out of Monroe, NY

7) Wake Forest- Seven man class; Top Recruit- SG Codi Miller-McIntyre

  • Jeff Bzdelik’s class may not make an impact this year, but these guys are three, four year players, who will propel Wake Forest up the standings in the years to come

8) Florida State- Six man class; Top Recruit- SG Montay Brandon

  • Florida State lost a lot on the frontcourt, and this class has some talent that could fill that void, but unfortunately not this year.  Look out, in the coming years for the 7-3 center, Boris Bojanovsky (from Slovakia), to make an impact for the ‘Noles

9) Clemson- Five man class; Top Recruit- SF Jaron Blossomgame

  • Brad Brownell has a decent class, the problem is after Blossomgame, there isn’t much talent to make an immediate impact this year

10) Miami (Fl)- Two man class; Top Recruit- SG Melvin Johnson

  • The loss of Malcolm Grant was big for the ‘Canes, but their top recruit, Johnson, could come in right away and make an impact on the perimeter

11) Boston College- Two man class; Top Recruit- PG Olivier Hanlan

  • After last year’s nine man class, Steve Donahue followed that one up with a much smaller class, that doesn’t feature a player who will break his rotation this season

12) Virginia Tech- One man class; Top Recruit- SF Marshall Wood

  • Losing forward, Montrezl Harrell was significant, he could have been effective from day one, but the reality is, they lost him, and new head coach, James Johnson brings in one player, Wood, who may receive sparing minutes this season.
