Power forward Henry Coleman III is set to make his college announcement today at 3:30 pm EST at Trinity Episcopal School today. The 6’7 forward will choose between NC State, Duke, Ohio State, Michigan and Virginia Tech. Most insiders think it’s a 2 team race between Virginia Tech and Duke and considering he only took official visits to those two schools it’s safe to say that’s probably the case.
The kind of player the school that Henry selects gets is a confident player who has put in the work physically and mentally. A coachable kid with grown man strength but a student of the game. He understands the impact of doing little things on the larger game and strives to not leave those things behind. He’s also a kid that values education and looking at his probable final two schools that seems to fall in line.
On the court he has the potential to be the leading rebounder on whatever team he plays on. Henry is a physical presence on the court, tough and strong with a chiseled frame who exhibits a high motor according to scouts. Coleman could provide minutes at multiple positions and, should he choose Duke, could be a multi-year guy to help build around for future classes. The recruitment of Coleman becomes doubly important since the Blue Devils lost out on high ranking Center Walker Kessler who chose the North Carolina Tar Heels this week. Duke is also recruiting Mark Williams, a good friend of Coleman at the center position.
The Blue Devils already have pledges from Jeremy Roach (PG), Jalen Johnson (SF) and DJ Steward (CG). Duke is looking to land a class probably around 6 to 7 and will need to offset the probable loss of their entire front court. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
