With Duke teetering on foul trouble disaster in both halves of their first game at Lahaina Civi Center against San Diego State junior forward Jack White became a pivotal player. Being able to plug Jack White into the lineup, to the tune of 28 minutes in addition to the other bench players, and not have a drop-off in terms of quality and effort was crucial for Duke and will be a factor going forward for this Duke team. White was able to give the Devils not only quality but quantity. Making the most of this time, White hit on 3 of 5 from the floor and 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, he also went 4-4 from the free throw line – scoring 12 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. Jack White was the Devil of the Day in game one of the Maui Invitational.
