Duke 2010 ACC Tournament Champs !

Wow, what a game and what a way to win it. Duke had a much stiffer test from Georgia Tech than I thought. A team that should have been weary came out with energy, aggression and they believed that they were going to win this game…and they nearly did. Congrats to Georgia Tech, I would hope that the performance by this team should secure Paul Hewitts job. He is a good coach, and in this tournament they overachieved.

The x’s and o’s aren’t really important in this game, Georgia Tech had a ton of turnovers, but they also out rebounded Duke, they had more assists, shot better from the floor from 2 and 3. In the end it came down to execution, it came down to Jon Scheyer off of  a curl, after having a forgettable shooting game. Coach and team had the confidence that it was going down, and more importantly Jon Scheyer had the confidence to take the shot when it counted. His growth from Freshmen yeah to Senior year has been amazing. From shooter to defender to leader, from starter to bench to starter. Congrats to Scheyer, Smith, Singler, Zoubek, Lance and the rest for a great season in the ACC. Also to Kyle Singler for becoming the tournaments MVP.

Also to the bench for stepping up. Miles, Mason and in this game especially Andre Dawkins.

Normally I would be confident in Duke earning a number 1 seed, but there are forces aligning against the Devils in that regard. Nothing wrong with being a 2, takes a little of the pressure off. It will come down to Duke, WVU and Ohio State most likely. We will know soon.

DUKE BASKETBALL!
