The Blue Devils spent the week working on fundamentals and after the Indiana game, even with that game being a blowout there were clear signs that Duke needed that work. Stetson would provide Duke the opportunity to right the ship.

Obviously Duke wasn’t expecting to struggle with the 1-7 Hatters but the 6-1 Blue Devils needed to get back to the basics on both defense and offense. Duke did that against the Hatters, Duke played the game and not the scoreboard. Led by freshmen R.J. Barrett and Cam Reddish the Blue Devils routed Stetson to the tune of 113 to 49. Barrett scored a game high 26 points in only 17 minutes of action, he also added 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Reddish, who’d been struggling lately, got of early and often against the Hatters. Reddish hit on 4 or 9 from beyond the arc and 8 oaf 15 overall on his way to 23 points. Freshman Tre Jones did not score a point and only took 1 shot in the game but did have his 3rd game of 7 assists and zero turnovers as a Blue Devil. Jones also added 3 steals.

Overall the Blue Devils accomplished the mission of much better execution, forcing 26 turnovers and scoring 44 points off of those turnovers. Duke held the Hatters to 8.7% from beyond the arc and 32.3% shooting for the game.

The Good:

29 assists for the game
26 forced turnovers
Fast break points 34 – 7 advantage
52 to 31 rebounding advantage

sThe Bad:

Free throws 61.1%
17 turnovers
