A bit of stuff to get to, some of it is old hat but will make mention of it anyway. Firstly, as most know Andre Dawkins will be redshirting this coming season, according to his father he wants to finish up his last year playing at Duke so hopefully that comes to fruition, he is an asset to the Devils and that last banner wouldn’t be there without his contributions, obviously I hope he finds what he is looking for be it peace, or just time away from basketball, he has earned it.
Rodney Hood is the next name on the radar for Duke and and by all accounts Hood should be deciding Tuesday between Ohio State and our beloved Devils after seeking and getting a release from Mississippi State. It could obviously go either way but he is definitely the type of player that Duke needs to be competitive. Hood is versatile, long and would serve the Devils well in practice with the aforementioned decision in the Dawkins situation.
Congratulations on Shane Battier for winning his first NBA title, he was an integral part of the Heat getting by the Thunder. His defense and 3-point shooting was a valuable asset and although I hate the Heat and honestly dislike Lebron James I am happy that Shane got his, couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy and hard worker. With that my son dug up this article that I missed on Shanes pre game playlist, lots of good songs. I had no idea his eclectic taste in music.
Congrats to incoming freshman Rasheed Sulaimon on winning the gold medal as part of Team USA.
And finally to whet the appetite of ball fans pieces of Dukes schedule this year has been released and the out-of-conference schedule looks to be a tough one for Duke this coming year with games against Kentucky at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and Ohio State at Cameron as party the the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. Games also against Temple and Davidson are on the menu at neutral-sites on Dec. 8 and Davidson on Jan. 2 respectively and a possible matchup with Louisville, Missouri, Memphis, VCU, Stanford, Northern Iowa or Minnesota in the Battle 4 Atlantis held in the Bahamas.
