Sophomore Forward Elects to Transfer at Semester Break

DURHAM, N.C. – Sophomore forward Semi Ojeleye has decided to leave Duke University, school officials announced Sunday. Ojeleye departs Duke in good academic standing and is expected to transfer to another Division I school.

A 6-8, 230-pound forward from Ottawa, Kan., Ojeleye has appeared in six games this season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 5-of-18 from the field and 4-of-7 from the free throw line. As a freshman, Ojeleye played in 17 games and averaged 1.6 points and 0.9 rebounds per game while shooting 7-of-14 (.500) from the field, 4-of-7 (.571) from three-point range and 10-of-11 (.909) from the free throw line. He scored a career-high 10 points against UNC Asheville last season and grabbed five or more rebounds two times at Duke.

“We want to thank Semi and his family for their commitment to the Duke program for the last year and a half,” said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. “He has been an excellent student and a great representative of our school and basketball program. He has been granted a full release and we definitely wish him the best.”

Duke, ranked second in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls, is 8-0 on the year with a pair of wins over ranked opponents. The Blue Devils, winners of the 2014 Coaches vs. Cancer Championship, return to action Monday, Dec. 15 against Elon (7 p.m. – ESPNU).
