The 2025 class has been relatively quiet for the Blue Devils thus far but to be fair, the majority of the top 50 players in the class are undecided. That quietude was interrupted for the Blue Devils in a big way and the eyes of College Basketball once again turn to Durham with the commitments of Cameron and Cayden Boozer. The number 2 and 21 recruits respectively in the 2025 class, and what should be the cornerstone of Jon Scheyer’s clas going into that season, have committed to Duke. The Boozers are the twin sons of Duke legend Carlos Boozer, who played for Coach K for 3 seasons beginning in the 1999-2000 season, winning a National Championship in 2001. In April 2002, Boozer declared for the NBA draft, foregoing his final year of college eligibility. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Carlos retired from playing professionally in 2017 and earned his bachelor’s degree from the Trinity College of Arts and Sciences of Duke University.

The Boozer’s are the first 2 commits in the 2025 class for Jon Scheyer’s Blue Devils and chose Duke over 2 hometown schools in the University of Miami and Florida.

What The Boozers Bring to Duke

While there is a somewhat huge variance in their ranking both Boozer twins have strong abilities at their respective positions and both are likely headed for pro careers with Cameron looking at possibly a top-5 draft position after his freshman season. They both have size and strength that should be beneficial at the next level and strong basketball minds to match.

Cayden Boozer:

Cayden is a 6’4, 205 point guard out of Miami – a four star prospect with good size at the 1 who has an above average basketball IQ and is a very willing passer but also a good finisher on the break – he’s at his best when he can get into transition and find his teammates. Cayden is a guard used to playing with high level talent surrounding him which makes him a good fit at Duke. He’s not a plater who needs the spotlight to do his job and projects to be a high assist, low turnover player. Cayden can get his offense going in a lot of ways, he’s a good cutter and has a decent float game as well and at 6’4 – 6’5 is perfect for what Coach Scheyer tends to recruit size-wise at the position.

Per nbadraftroom.com

“He’s a strong, well-built combo guard with an advanced skill level. He’s a tough driver and creative finisher who uses his frame well and can finish through contact. He isn’t a big time above the rim player at this stage but is a crafty scorer, a high level passer and a great decision maker on the court. He has a big impact on the game even when not scoring. A pesky defender who can guard up and down the line up. Moves his feet well to stay in front of ball handlers and has very quick hands. He’s like a coach on the floor and makes great decisions with the ball”.

Cameron Boozer:

Cameron, the higher rated of the brothers, is a power forward who shares his brother’s high basketball IQ.  At 6’9, 240lbs, Cam is a rim runner with a plethora of low post moves to complement his explosiveness. He has a burgeoning outside game but the bulk of his work is going to be done in the paint and at the rim. Cameron also can control the paint as a shot-blocker and a rebounder on both ends. The little known or lesser talked about part to Cameron’s game are his ability to pass the ball – especially out of double-teams which he will see his fair share of. He’s a kid that makes the right play and doesn’t need a lot of time to figure out what the right play is – also his ability to start the fast break off of a rebound and make a great outlet pass or run the floor to fill the lane as a finisher. Cameron also possesses a really good handle for a power forward.

Per Eric Bossi:

“The son of former NBA All-Star and Duke star Carlos Boozer, Cameron is a highly skilled frontcourt player who has all of the tools you would want from a modern power forward. At 6-foot-9 and 215 pounds, Boozer is already big, strong and plays with toughness. A state champion in Florida as a freshman, Boozer’s best asset may be his hands. He catches everything, is an elite rebounder and shows significant touch on everything from his shooting to his passing. Boozer is capable of scoring in the low post or facing the rim and compares quite favorably to the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Paolo Banchero, at the same age.”
