Duke freshman guard/forward Isaiah Evans has been named ACC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday, March 3. Evans averaged 17.5 points per game during Duke’s 2-0 week, which included nine 3-pointers by the freshman. During a 97-60 win at Miami on Tuesday, the native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, exploded for 16 first-half points on 5-of-6 (.833) shooting from deep. In the first start of his career against Florida State on Saturday, Evans scored 19 points, grabbed a pair of rebounds, and added an assist and a steal in the Blue Devils’ 100-65 victory. He connected on 9-of-21 (42.9%) 3-point shots during the week.
