Jon Scheyer has struck again on the recruiting trail, garnering a surprise commitment from 7’1 center Maxime Meyer. Meyer, ranked in the top 100 currently attends IMG Academy and hails from Canada. He chose the Blue Devils over Michigan State and Florida. After dropping a list of top 6 schools, which did not include Duke. Jon Scheyer made up ground and put on the full court press. During the summer circuit with Adidas, Meyer put up 9 points 8 boards and 3 blocks per game. He joins a class that already features small forward Bryson Howard.

Meyer was offered in the second week of October, Meyer then visited the Blue Devils beginning October 17th, and didn’t waste much time in seeing the vision laid out by the staff and committed just 13 days later. In Meyer, Duke lands a rim protector and a player with good hands and footwork, that should stick in Durham for at least a couple of years as he develops. Duke is far from done in this class, look for things to ramp up with forward Cameron Williams Deron Rippey Jr. and Jordan Smith Jr.
