The Duke men’s basketball creative content team won a Sports Video Group award for the third consecutive year as the program’s popular series, Duke Blue Planet, was named Outstanding Program Series in College Athletics for the second time in three years.
The awards were announced by SVG Wednesday evening during its annual awards show.
The Duke Blue Planet series, which was also honored with the same SVG award during its debut season in 2019, annually features the Blue Devils with exclusive and authentic content. The show, which puts the players front and center, tells you their stories and gives fans a first-hand look inside the Duke program from the players’ perspective.
The show, which has been edited and produced the last two seasons by the team’s Creative Content ProducerStephen Ochoa, has averaged nearly 2.7 million views annually and totaled one million hours of watch time across the Duke men’s basketball social accounts. Duke men’s basketball boasts the largest combined social following in college athletics.
Last year, the team was honored for Outstanding Short-Form Fan Engagement in the Collegiate Athletics for a video that preceded the Blue Devils’ thrilling road victory at North Carolina on February 8, 2020.
Duke men’s basketball’s creative team is headed by Creative Director Dave Bradley and also includes Executive Director of Communications Mike DeGeorge, Senior Editor/Producer of Blue Devil Network NolanElingburg, Ochoa, Director of Athletics Photography Reagan Lunn and student assistantsMadison Cook and Zack Samberg.
