Duke freshman guard/forward Cooper Flagg has been named the ACC Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday, Dec. 23. Flagg averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game during a 2-0 week for the fifth-ranked Blue Devils.

In Duke’s 68-47 victory over seven-win George Mason on Tuesday, Dec. 17, Flagg was one rebound shy of his fourth 20-point double-double of the season when he amassed 24 points, nine boards, four assists, three steals and a blocked shot.

During the Blue Devils’ ACC road win over Georgia Tech on Saturday, Dec. 21, the 6-9 freshman collected 13 points, four rebounds and two assists on his 18th birthday.

The Rookie of the Week recognition is Flagg’s fourth of the season by the ACC, as he has earned the honor in four of the first seven possible weeks.

Over the last 11 seasons (since the start of 2013-14), Duke has had an ACC Rookie of the Week in 90 of a possible 193 weeks (46.6%). Twenty-six different Blue Devils have won the award at least once in that time.
