Before the Stetson game freshman sharpshooter Cam Reddish hadn’t been playing his best basketball for the Blue Devils. Against Indiana and Gonzaga Reddish shot 33% from the field even though his numbers from 3 point range in those 2 games never dropped below 42%. Reddish hadn’t been able to finish effectively at the rim and seemed to have issues dribbling through traffic to the tune of 8 turnovers in those 2 games.
The game against Stetson saw the staff put Reddish in a position to be more aggressive and occasionally ran him with the second unit. This could have been to work on the confidence of the freshman or it could have been just a lineup shuffle to add more scoring punch to the secondary lineup. In any event Reddish took full advantage of the opportunity – having his highest scoring output since dropping 25 points against army. Reddish poured in 23 points in 23 minutes off of 8-15 shooting. The freshman forward also 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Reddish figuring out his role will be aa huge piece to what can help drive Duke from being a good to a great team and the sooner this happens the better for the Blue Devils chances as the ACC season begins. Cam Reddish is the Devil of the Day against the Stetson Hatters.
