DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men’s basketball program, in conjunction with the Atlantic Coast Conference, announced its 2016-17 league schedule on Monday. In addition to the ACC slate, Duke learned times and television assignments for the majority of its previously announced non-conference games.
On the heels of a 25-win season and a Sweet 16 appearance in 2016, Duke welcomes back a veteran core led by graduate student Amile Jefferson, senior Matt Jones and junior All-American Grayson Allen for the 2016-17 campaign. The Blue Devils also add one of the nation’s most top recruiting classes to the fold, a group of six headlined by center Marques Bolden, forward Harry Giles, guard Frank Jackson and forward Jayson Tatum.
The Blue Devils’ ACC regular season schedule includes eight games against 2016 NCAA Tournament participants, including two each against Miami and North Carolina.
Eleven of Duke’s ACC regular season games, and 20 of its regular season games that currently have TV assignments, will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks. The Blue Devils will also have a pair of ACC regular season games on CBS.
“The ACC is, more often than not, the best conference in the country and this year will be no different,” Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. “To win this league, you have to be at your best each and every night. We view this schedule as an opportunity to do something special and as a way for our team to be battle-tested heading into postseason play.”
Duke will open ACC play at Virginia Tech on Dec. 31 (ESPN2, noon ET) before hosting Georgia Tech and Boston College on Jan. 4 (ESPN2, 7 p.m. ET) and Jan. 7 (RSN, 2 p.m. ET), respectively.
The following week, Duke will visit Florida State on Jan. 10 (ACC Network, 8 p.m. ET) and Louisville on Jan. 14 (ESPN/ESPN2, noon ET). Duke will have road games at Wake Forest on Jan. 28 (ACC Network, 3 p.m. ET) and Notre Dame on Jan. 30 (ESPN, 7 p.m. ET) to close out the month.
