Duke men’s basketball head coach Jon Scheyer announced the promotion of Emanuel Dildy as the Steve & Judy Pagliuca Associate Head Coach on Tuesday. Dildy was hired to the Blue Devils’ staff as an assistant coach in August 2023.

“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Emanuel the past two seasons, and his impact on our program has been tremendous,” said Scheyer. “He’s an elite recruiter, a detailed teacher of the game and someone whose tireless work ethic sets the tone for our staff and players. Emanuel’s leadership, energy and passion embody what Duke Basketball is all about, and I’m excited to elevate him into this well-deserved role as associate head coach.”

Regarded as one of the nation’s top recruiters, Dildy served as an assistant under Chris Collins at Northwestern from 2018-21. He then spent two seasons on Porter Moser’s staff at Oklahoma, where he earned a promotion to associate head coach before joining Duke in 2023.

At Oklahoma, Dildy coached the Sooners’ wings and played a key role in recruiting, helping OU sign four ESPN 100 prospects over two years. During his time at Northwestern, he was instrumental in assembling the program’s highest-rated recruiting class, which included two top-100 signees in 2021.

A Chicago native, Dildy also served as an assistant at Valparaiso (2017-18), Missouri (2016-17), Loyola Chicago under Moser (2013-16) and Eastern Illinois (2012-13).

He began his coaching career at Kennedy-King College in Chicago, serving as an assistant from 2008-10 before becoming head coach from 2010-12. His teams went 35-27 in two seasons and advanced to the 2012 NJCAA Region IV Tournament championship game.

As a player, Dildy spent two seasons at New Mexico State before transferring to Eastern Illinois, where he earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors as a senior. After graduating from EIU with a degree in communications in 2005, he played professionally in Germany for two years and in the International Basketball League for one season before beginning his coaching career.
