Next up for the 2 and 0 Blue Devils, the Central Arkansas Bears to open the Empire Classic benefitting the Wounded Warriors Project. The Blue Devils enter the game 2-0, with wins over Kansas and Colorado State. The Bears come into Tuesday having won 1 of their 3 contests - their 2 losses coming against Baylor and Georgetown.

The Opponent:

Last time out the Bears more than held their own against The Georgetown Hoyas, losing 89-78 but turning the Hoyas over 19 times, including 10 steals, in the game scoring 17 points off of those turnovers. The Bears had 4 players in double figures and were paced by Hayden Koval who scored 21 points in the loss. Koval also had 3 blocks and 2 steals in the losing effort.

The Bears are coming off of a season where they went 14-19 but also played a tough national schedule with games against Missouri, Pitt, Saint Louis, Louisville, Indiana and Oklahoma State. The Bears once again are are playing a tough schedule this season which has included Baylor, Georgetown, Duke, but also Marquette, Utah and Wichita State.

Hayden Koval and Eddy Kayouloud are jointly leading the Bears in scoring at 13 each, both are averaging just over 5 rebounds a game. Point Guard DeAndre Jones is leading the Bears in assists at 4 [per game and 7 footer Hayden Koval is averaging 3.7 blocks per game.

Player to Watch:

7'0 Hayden Koval had a monster game against the Hoyas and is on a bit of a role. It could be a challenge for the Devils to finish over the 7 footer, and an interesting task to defend him.

My Synopsis:

The recipe for the Blue Devils has been fairly simple, lock down, force turnovers and stake your claim on the defensive end. Offensively the Blue Devils could use an injection of fluidity and hopefully they can find that Tuesday night. Knocking down a few early 3 point shots would go along way towards opening up space for Vernon Carey to go to workl on the interior.
