DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior Grayson Allen and freshman Marvin Bagley III were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s Basketball team, as announced today by the conference office.
Allen has earned a spot on the team in each of his four years as a Blue Devil, while Bagley was one of 11 freshmen on the 30-man list.
To be eligible for consideration to the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
The All-ACC Academic Team includes six of the league’s top 15 scorers – Duke’s Bagley III (20.7), Syracuse’s Tyus Battle (19.8), North Carolina’s Luke Maye (17.9), Duke’s Allen (15.5), Louisville’s Deng Adel (15.3) and NC State Allerik Freeman (15.1). Bagley is also the ACC’s leading rebounder (11.1).
Duke has had multiple honorees in 11 consecutive seasons and 30 times since the inception of the All-ACC Academic team in 1962-63. It is the first time since 1997 that the Blue Devils’ two leading scorers were honored, when Trajan Langdon (14.3 ppg) and Jeff Capel (12.4) earned mention.
