Duke freshman Kyle Filipowski has been named Duke’s PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week, following being named the MVP of the ACC Tournament.
Filipowski was named the ACC Tournament MVP after averaging 19.7 points and shooting a tournament-best .667 (24-of-36) from the field. The Westtown, N.Y., native recorded two double-doubles during Duke’s three-game run to the title, including his fourth 20-10 game of the season with a 20-point, 10-rebound effort against Virginia in the championship game.
In Duke’s opening game of the tournament against Pittsburgh, Filipowski scored 22 points in just 16 minutes of action, going 8-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. In the semifinal round against No. 1-seed Miami, Filipowski scored 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field and grabbed 11 rebounds. His .889 shooting percentage against the Hurricanes was the third-best by any Blue Devil in an ACC Tournament game.
