DURHAM, N.C. – Duke sophomore Tre Jones was named ACC Player of the Week after leading the seventh-ranked Blue Devils to a pair of road conference wins over Boston College and North Carolina.

Jones averaged a team-leading 23.0 points and 5.0 assists through the two games, and led Duke to a double-digit comeback to top the rival Tar Heels on Saturday night. He poured in 22 of his game-high 28 points in the second half inside the Smith Center, and his buzzer-beating jumper sent the game to overtime after he rebounded his own intentionally-missed free throw. Jones scored 15 consecutive points – the final nine points of regulation and the first six of overtime. The sophomore single-handedly outscored UNC, 18-15, over the final minute of regulation and overtime. He finished the game with 28 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals – becoming just the second player in the Duke-North Carolina rivalry to go for 28-5-5, joining Michael Jordan.

In the win at Boston College on Tuesday, Jones scored 18 points on 7-of-15 shooting with four assists and three rebounds. The native of Apple Valley, Minn., is averaging 17.9 points over his last nine games. He is now 13-3 in his career on the road, including 12-3 in ACC road games.

A candidate for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year award, Jones ranks second in the ACC in assists (6.6), second in steals (2.0), third in assist/turnover ratio (2.4), eighth in scoring (15.8) and ninth in field goal percentage (.442). He is one of just two players in a major conference who is averaging 15.0+ points, 6.0+ assists, a 2.0+ assist/turnover ratio and shooting .440 or better from the field.

This marks Jones’ third ACC Player of the Week recognition this season (12/9, 1/13). He and freshman Vernon Carey Jr. were included on the John R. Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 Watch List, which is awarded to the national player of the year.

Jones will lead Duke (20-3, 10-2 ACC) into a top-10 matchup against No. 8 Florida State (20-3, 10-2 ACC) Monday night at 7 p.m. ET at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The game can be seen live on ESPN.
