The Devil of the Day in Duke’s victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets is sophomore big man Mark Williams. Against the Yellow Jackets Williams notched a double-double – his second this season and fourth of his career – with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. He also blocked three shots.
Duke on the season has not been a stellar rebounding team and Willams efforts both defensively and offensively on the glass were key in the 12 point win against Georgia Tech. His 9 first half rebounds, 3 of which here offensive, aided Duke in scoring 9 fast break points and 8 second chance points.
Williams is now averaging 8.5 points per game and shooting 66% from the field. He’s averaging 3 blocks a game and only .5 turnovers.
