DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men’s basketball creative content team won a Sports Video Group award for Outstanding Short-Form Fan Engagement in the Collegiate Athletics division, the organization announced via a virtual awards ceremony Thursday night.
The winning video, titled “#TheDukeReveal: 8 Miles,” preceded the Blue Devils’ thrilling road victory at North Carolina on February 8. The video, which unveiled the uniform that the team wore against its in-state rival, was produced by Stephen Ochoa, narrated by Tyus Jones and featured Tyus’s younger brother Tre Jones. The younger Jones went on to play a legendary role in the Blue Devils’ overtime win at UNC by hitting the game-tying shot at the buzzer to force overtime and scoring 28 points in the 98-96 victory.
This marks the second consecutive year that the Duke men’s basketball program has won an SVG Sports Media Award. In 2019, the season-long production of “Duke Blue Planet” won for Outstanding Program Series in Collegiate Athletics.
Duke men’s basketball’s creative team is headed by Creative Director Dave Bradley and also includes Mike DeGeorge, Nolan Elingburg, Stephen Ochoa, Reagan Lunn and student assistants Madison Cook and Zack Samberg.
