DURHAM, N.C. – The Sporting News announced its Preseason All-American teams on Wednesday. Duke was one of only two schools with multiple honorees.
Senior guard Grayson Allen, the team’s leading returning scorer (14.5 ppg) and rebounder (3.7 rpg) was one of five players to be named to the first team. Allen has also been named a preseason All-American by Blue Ribbon and Athlon.
Freshman forward Marvin Bagley III, the consensus top recruit in the country, was named to the second team. Bagley III was named Preseason ACC Rookie of the Year earlier this month, and both Allen and Bagley were named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List, which was released earlier this week.
