Stanford Cardinal
In their inaugural season in the ACC, the Cardinal went 21-14 overall with a conference record of 11-9. This season they look to eclipse that and have started off the season with a 14-4 overall record and 3-2 in the ACC. 9-3 at home, 2-1 on the road, 3-0 on neutral floors. They’ve notched wins over Minnesota, Louisville and most recently North Carolina. Stanford leads the ACC in free throws made (18.2) and is second in free throws attempted (25.2) per game. The Cardinal are fifth in the conference in turnovers forced per game (13.9) and turnover margin (+3.1).
Freshman Ebuka Okorie leads the ACC (5th in the nation) in scoring (22.9 ppg), while also atop the league in field goal attempts (254), free-throw attempts (135) and free throws made (110). He also leads the Cardinal in assists at 3.3 per game. The Cardinal boast 2 other double figure scorers in Chisom Okpara at 13.9 points per game and 2.2 assists and Benny Gealer, a senior guard, at 10.4 points per game. Last Time Out
Ebuka Okorie established a school freshman scoring record with 36 points, fueling Stanford past No. 14/15 North Carolina 95-90 on Wednesday night at Maples Pavilion.
Okorie, who entered the game ranked eighth nationally in scoring, was once again the most dominant player on the floor. Producing his fourth 30-point outing over the last seven games, Okorie finished 12-20 from the field and 9-11 from the foul line while dishing out a season-high nine assists in 36 minutes. The 36 points are tied for 15th most in a game in program history.
Ryan Agarwal (7-11 FG) and Jeremy Dent-Smith (7-8 FG) both added 20 points, combining to make 13 three-pointers on 16 attempts and powering Stanford’s 16-28 performance from beyond the arc. Agarwal’s mark was career-high, while Dent-Smith’s total was a Division-I high in a Stanford uniform. The 16 made 3-pointers are tied for second-most in a single game in program history.
Duke Blue Devils
The Blue Devils are coming off of a 35-4 season that saw them within a game of a title shot. Duke went 19-1 in conference, winning both the regular season and the ACC Tournament.
The Blue Devils welcome in a number 1 recruiting class after their Final Four run. Jon Scheyer after losing his entire starting lineup to the NBA but retaining core pieces with experience. Leading Duke are experienced returners senior big Maliq Brown and junior guard Caleb Foster, both instrumental pieces in Duke’s run this past season. Duke also returned 3 members from last season freshman class in hot shooting Isaiah Evans, who shot a team high 41.6%. Duke also brings back Darren Harris who has reshaped his body in hopes for a larger role and Patrick Ngongba who similarly has reshaped his frame, coming into this season healthy.
The Blue Devils enter the weekend with a 16-1 record, and an unblemished conference record at 5-0.
Cam Boozer leads a trio of double-figure scorers for the Blue Devils. Boozer is averaging a team best 22.8 points per game in addition, he’s leading the team in rebounding (9.7) and assists (4.1). He’s followed by sophomore Isaiah Evans at 14.6 points per game, and Pat Ngongba at 10.8 points her game and 6.4 boards.

Final Thoughts
There are 2 areas that the Blue Devils have to keep an eye on. The first is not letting Ebuka Okorie go off. After 36 points against UNC, he’s no longer the conferences best secret. Duke has to make life difficult for him. Duke’s defense as a whole has to take a step forward. The Blue Devils looked much better against the Cal Bears and they will have to be even better against Stanford.
Offensively, Duke has to take care of the basketball. They’ve been prone to a lot of unforced turnovers and against Stanford that’s going to make this game much harder than it has to be. Stanford already does an amazing job at forcing turnovers, Duke cannot aid them by being loose and sloppy with the basketball.
