Coach K and the Duke Blue Devils add another piece to their 2019 class with the addition of PF prospect, out of University School in Florida, Vernon Carey. Carey is ranked #2 by ESPN and #4 by 247Sports. Carey at 6’10 and 275lbs adds size to a class that has 2 perimeter players in Rejean “Boogie” Ellis and Wendell Moore so far.

VernonĀ is a lefty big man who brings size but also versatility to the Blue Devil front court. He has worked on extending his range out to beyond the arc and is a strong finisher at the rim.

Carey picked the Blue Devils over Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans and Roy Williams North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Blue Devils are still hoping to land another big in the class and are still targeting and pursuing PF / C Isaiah Stewart and Matthew Hurt who has a scheduled visit to Duke January 19th.
