The Blue Devils are set to take on the best of the Big Ten in the Michigan State Spartans. The Spartans are not a team to be overlooked. A staple of a Tom Izzo team is toughness - Duke will have their hands full with this team. Past success against this team will not be an indicator of what happens in Washington DC Sunday. The Spartans are led in scoring and assists by junior guard Cassius Winston who averages 18.8 points per game and 7.6 assists. Winston is a deadly accurate 3 point shooter at 40% and is masterful off of coming off of screens and getting his looks. As a team against the LSU Tigers in the last round the Spartans shot 40% as a team from beyond the arc - that will be a huge point of emphasis for the Blue Devils defensively. Xavier Tillman leads the Spartans in rebounding at 7.2 per game, he's a load in the middle and he and Nick Ward make a formidable frontcourt. So far in the tournament MSU has shown that different guys can step up and whoever that mismatch favors the Spartans are taking advantage.

The Blue Devils have played much better in this tournament on the defensive end and for them to be successful against Michigan State they will have to level-up even further. The Spartans are very capable of getting their numbers from any player that steps on the court. This will be one of the more physical games the Blue Devils have played. Tom Izzo has done a great job of getting this team to buy into his aggressive, physical style but also having the offensive firepower to separate from teams. This may be his best Spartan team since his championship team.
