Duke Downs Hampton 87-45

By March 18, 2011No Comments

Not too much different than expected in this one but in truth you never really know. The Devils came into this game with most of the media focused on Kyrie Irving and his return. Truth be told Duke didn’t have to play him, but getting actual game minutes in this early round game is crucial to Kyrie being ready to go should Duke advance to later rounds.

How did Mr. Irving do? He did well, especially for having missed around 26 games. He shot 4 of 8 from the field including 2 of 2 from 3. He scored 14 points. He had 1 assist and 2 turnovers. He came off the bench and played in spurts, I don’t have the actual numbers in front of me and if I guess it will be wrong. I’ll say 15-20 minutes maybe.

The entire team seemed to have a calm focus, they were sharp and definitely mission oriented. The bigs played exceptionally well in this game. Miles Plumlee ended with 13 rebounds and 8 points, while brother Mason had 5 boards and 12 points. Everyone was efficient and shared the basketball well.
