Per Duke Sports Information:
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Duke men’s basketball program will face Portland State at 4:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 23, in its first Motion Bracket game at PK80 presented by State Farm. The contest will take place at Veterans Memorial Coliseum and be televised on ESPN.
PK80 is a 16-team early-season men’s college basketball event honoring Nike co-founder and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Phil Knight as he celebrates his 80th birthday. The two eight-team brackets will run simultaneously, culminating with the crowning of two champions.
Depending on its result against the Vikings, Duke will face either Butler or Texas on Nov. 24. A win over PSU would send the Blue Devils into semifinal action at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN, while a loss would mean a 3 p.m. ET tip-off Friday on ESPNU. Both scenarios would see Duke play at Moda Center on Nov. 24.
Should Duke advance to the PK80 Motion Bracket championship game at Moda Center, it will play at 10:30 p.m. ET Sunday, Nov. 26, on ESPN. The Blue Devils’ game time, venue and network assignment is TBD should they not advance to the title game.
Duke and Portland State have met once on the hardwood, an 89-39 DU victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Dec. 30, 1997. The Blue Devils own a 3-0 series lead over Butler, including a win in the 2010 NCAA championship game, and lead 4-0 in a series with Texas that has been dormant since 2009.
Duke is 257-75 (.774) at neutral sites in 37 seasons under the direction of head coach Mike Krzyzewski. The Blue Devils are 88-16 (.846) with 18 titles in regular-season tournaments under Coach K.
As part of PK80, Duke will take on Furman in a non-bracketed game at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday, Nov. 20. Tip-off time has yet to be determined, but ACC Network will televise the contest.
